NaturArte
About this good practice
The NaturArte project, created for the first edition in 2013, aims to combine art and territory in a virtuous process through the trekking formula for major events, to promote the protected areas of the Basilicata region with its naturalistic, historical, and cultural values.
An ambitious and important project, together with the 5 Natural Parks of the regional territory, for the creation of a "Basilicata Parks Network".
-NaturArte is:
•Artistic residencies: musicians, creatives, poets, intellectuals, sculptors, painters, and artisans of the territory are invited to generate a new process of creation, elaboration, innovation and artistic experimentation.
•Trekking.
•Arts and meetings: in-depth information moments on the 3 themes of the project (SUSTAINABILITY, BIODIVERSITY AND GREEN JOBS) with leading personalities from the scientific world.
•Events: shows with nationally and internationally renowned guests.
•Workshop: co-design and self-construction laboratories with local artisans.
•Art and paths: excursions on foot or by bicycle.
•Convivium Park: Intends to trigger regeneration processes of the material and immaterial landscape through the activation of co-planning paths with local communities.
•Transforms places into human landscapes through the experience of co-creation with the community.
•Involves civil society in generating a 'civic capital' made up of community hospitality and refreshment, but also of goods, services, and spaces.
Resources needed
The NaturArte project, created for the first edition in 2013 in line with the objectives of the OP ERDF Basilicata 2007-2013 Axis, has a total funding (for all the parks) of €1.287.000,00.
Evidence of success
Results were found in the project's ability to involve citizens as well as in the enhancement of the natural areas.
Potential for learning or transfer
It could become a European model in terms of community involvement, serving an educational, cultural, and social purpose. It aims to go beyond being merely "aesthetic and spectacular" and instead prepares residents and civil society to collaborate and establish new reciprocal agreements. The goal is to create an environment that welcomes and inspires a community of musicians, artists, and intellectuals, transforming towns or cities into hubs of creative production and social experimentation.
