As an opening, the Project Coordinator from the Department of Strategy and Development in the Marshal Office of Lubelskie Voivodeship presented an outlook on the project, its goal, budget, partners, work schedule, and the expected results. This was followed by the presentation from a colleague at the Department, who excited participants by presenting the long-term value and the immediate benefits of participating in the Tourism4SDG Local Stakeholder Group.

As a strong voice of inspiration, a  representative from the Department of Promotion, Sports and Tourism presented the role of sustainable development in local brand-building and brought to the table the strongest accents of branding in Lubelskie. The representative highlighted the value of authentic, local experience, drawing attention to the regional motto “Taste life” and the emerging motto “Slow”.

Afterwards, the Director of Lublin Regional Tourist Organisation gave a speech on combining marketing with “on-the-ground” actions. The Director analysed the strengths and weaknesses of the region, as well as its hidden potentials for managing touristic flow and the regional attractions. The presentation also addressed the mission of sustainable governance, along with an announcement of the upcoming analysis of Lubelskie’s Tourism Development Program.

The event concluded with a dynamic brainstorming session, where participants explored the most pressing challenges and key breaking points for regional tourism’s long-term sustainability and success. The session provided an opportunity to welcome stakeholder’s ideas for best practices, which will be presented at the first interregional exchange in Portugal on the 24th and 25th of September.
