ACCELERATE GDT Irish associate policy partner the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment is holding a series of Building Better Business events across the country to help your business navigate the green journey and boost your business performance through digital transformation.

Going Green and Growing Digital

The green economy and digital transformation are fundamentally changing the future, bringing both clear opportunities and significant challenges for businesses in Ireland and all across Europe.

Building Better Business Events

Each event will feature:

  • opening remarks by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Simon Coveney
  • panel discussions with experts and businesses on the opportunities and challenges presented by digital transformation and the transition to a low carbon economy
  • an address from the Chair of the Regional Enterprise Plan
  • experts on hand to talk you through the range of supports available from government
  • a networking opportunity to connect with and learn from other businesses who have taken steps on their green and digital journeys

A key element of the Building Better Business event will be a number of staffed stands featuring agencies and organisations including Enterprise Ireland, the Local Enterprise Offices, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, IDA, Microfinance Ireland, Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland, Skillnet Ireland, Intertrade Ireland and the Mid-West Regional Skills Forum.

They will be on hand to advise attendees on how businesses can lower their running costs by implementing energy efficiency measures, unlock new opportunities and create new green jobs, raise finance and learn how to win new business as large businesses and public sector organisations increasingly require suppliers to be more sustainable.

Staff will also be available to demonstrate the Government’s Climate Toolkit 4 Business, a user-friendly tool which will estimate business’s carbon footprint and suggest actions and supports to help reduce it.

Advice will be available on how digital transformation can help business in a range of ways including laying the ground for future growth, making more productive use of time and resources, expanding markets, increasing sales, enabling better customer engagement and better use of data to inform strategy as well as improving security.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Simon Coveney, T.D. will attend and address each of the nine planned Building Better Business and has urged businesses from across Ireland to come along and find out about the many ways they can improve their business.

Minister Coveney states, “I would like to encourage businesses to come along to our Building Better Business event which will highlight how digital transformation and the transition to a low carbon economy can help their business. During the panel discussions local businesses will outline how they are benefiting from the opportunities that these changes are bringing.  Building Better Business also offers a great opportunity to network with other businesses and find out how they too are seizing opportunities and meeting the challenge.”

“These events are scheduled so that businesses can come along for even an hour or two, maybe take in one of the panel discussions and also find out about what is on offer to them from our agencies in terms of supports, mentoring and other assistance. It will be time well spent and could benefit your business hugely.”

Engaging in the South West Region

The event in the South West Region of Ireland will take place on Thursday 9th November 2023 from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm, in the Radisson Blu, Little Island, Cork.
