Debrecen hosted the the second Study visit of ACROSS project
The second study visit of the Interreg Europe ACROSS project, organized by EDC Debrecen, took place in Debrecen on March 25-26. Partners from seven countries attended the event to learn about the local characteristics and good practices in Debrecen.
On the first day, participants were introduced to the city and its initiatives in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Zoltán Pécskay, Managing Director of EDC Debrecen, welcomed the attendees, followed by an engaging presentation on Debrecen's economic development. Two local best practices were showcased: the public awareness campaign "Water is Our Common Treasure" and the "Cleanup event in Debrecen..." garbage collection initiative, part of the global World Cleanup Day movement. Participants also learned about the local CSR activities of Emerson-National Instruments Company and the Dorcas Ministries.
In the afternoon, attendees participated in a joint tree planting activity and visited the Debrecen site of P.M.R. Kft., where they observed the recycling process of Nespresso aluminum capsules and local practices supporting the circular economy.
The second day of the visit focused on knowledge-sharing and project management. Led by the project's thematic leader, BURST Nonprofit LLC., partners took part in a policy development workshop, where they presented the main conclusions of their LAR, including new good practices. They also participated in a matchmaking exercise of knowledge needs and good practices, and a policy improvement training session. In the afternoon, a project management meeting was conducted under the leadership of the lead partner, Alba Iulia Municipality, alongside the responsible partner for communication, EDC Debrecen.
The meeting in Debrecen was a valuable opportunity for participants to exchange experiences and share knowledge in the field of CSR.
The ACROSS project is being implemented under the Interreg Europe program from April 2024 to June 2028. Over the four years, nine partners from seven countries — Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Belgium, Italy, Latvia, and Moldova — are collaborating to improve regional policies related to corporate social responsibility, promote sustainability, and support the European Union's climate neutrality target for 2050.
