SMARTLAB: AI Innovation at Anghel Saligny, Bacău

In Bacău, Romania, a high school is pushing the boundaries of tech-driven education. The Anghel Saligny Technological High School has established a SMARTLAB, an advanced digital learning space equipped with AI-integrated tools, 3D printing, and robotics.
This local initiative stands out not only for its state-of-the-art equipment but also for its bold approach to AI education. Students can experiment with large language models (LLMs) on a dedicated server, test text-to-3D and text-to-CAD technologies, and engage in hands-on robotics using the programmable DOBOT Magician arm. The school’s 3-in-1 Snapmaker A350T printer further enhances learning by combining 3D printing, laser engraving, and CNC milling in one device.
Beyond the hardware, the school is actively shaping an AI policy for ethical and effective classroom use, ensuring that digital tools serve both innovation and inclusion. This project highlights how even smaller communities can lead the way in digital education, offering a model that could inspire other regions.
