Successful exchange of Skive (DK) and Sittard-Geleen (NL)

There was a 1,5 day program where we shared experiences with each other. It was an additional visit, a spin-off of the CHEERS4EU project.
We had matchmaking sessions about:
1) Industry, Sustainability and Circularity
2) Education
3) Business and local government
4 Campus development and co-creation
5) Reflections on Circular Hubs, governance structure
Skive is a very ambitous municipality, that is working hard to make the whole municipality a Circular Hub. They have an industrial site, Greenlab, and work together with the community to create green jobs. They have transformed their pig farming into grass farming and use protein resources from the sea nearby as input for their industrial site. They share energy and exchange it to heat or other forms needed.
On the Chemelot site we visited some pilot plants, the labs from CHILL and discussed how eduction can help to create green jobs for different ages and groups. There were presentations about the Chemelot Circular Hub and Brightlands Circular Space, where plastics are recycled.
We also visited the city Sittard-Geleen, and Stadslabs, a Circulair initiative that offers space to students, policy makers, entrepeneurs and citizens. It shows the mixed atmosphere where people can meet and connect to work on circular solutions.
We are looking forward to visiting Skive in 2026! Thank you for the initiative team Skive!
