Kainuu Regional Council Mid Term Communication Event

On August 20th, Kainuu Regional Council, organised a Mid Term Communication event for CHERRY bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders from the CCI sector through a virtual meeting.

The purpose was twofold: to share updates on CHERRY and to generate discussions about the future of culture in the region.

Elina Keränen, Kainuu Regional Council’s Project Coordinator for CHERRY, kicked off the meeting with a recap of the CHERRY project's achievements. Beyond the CHERRY project, participants discussed the KAIPO project, which aims to strengthen cultural networks in Kainuu and North Ostrobothnia. The group was briefed about the upcoming partnership table in Kuusamo, where they would delve into topics like cultural accessibility and village revitalisation.

Next, upcoming cultural events in Kainuu were covered from heritage days to tourism strategy launches, the region is gearing up for many activities in the autumn. A particular highlight was the cultural advocacy event scheduled for October, where participants would have the opportunity to influence cultural policies and funding.

The meeting also provided a platform for open discussion. Participants discussed the economic impact of cultural events, debated the importance of a broad definition of culture, and shared ideas for the upcoming Culture Gala.

The meeting provided valuable updates, ignited new ideas for the region and highlighted the need for further networking and collaboration, and future lobbying events for the culture of Kainuu.
