International events are growing, and cities host more and more often many cultural meetings and events. These mega-events and international competitions significantly redefine in some cases the urban landscapes of host cities, which ensure availability of venues and infrastructures facilitate urban mobility.

These transformations can have a strong impact on social and economic sectors of the cities: demand for accommodation, security and leisure activities are transformed and completed the offer for tourists and people which visited the cities for these events.

Moreover, also tourism is stimulated and could increase thanks to international events. Public spaces are transformed, and new buildings and infrastructures are often built.

But these transformations can also be negative, so it is important also to mitigate adverse effects integrating the solutions with the existing urban landscapes, taking care also of social dimensions and people inclusion.
