On August 14, 2024, there was organized a stakeholder meeting for representatives of the Lahti City consortium at the town hall. The goal of the meeting was to create a snapshot of the biocircular economy in the Lahti City concern - what kind of biomaterial flows enter and leave the system, what quantities are involved, and what development needs have been identified. 15 people including the organizers participated in the workshop. There were representatives from different service areas of the City of Lahti, Lahti Aqua, Päijät-Hämeen Ateriapalvelut, Lahden Talot, Tilakeskus, Labio, Salpamaa and Lahti Energy. In other words, the different concern units were well represented. There was also an illustrator who participated in the workshop and will make a picture of this biobased circular economy in the Lahti City concern.

In the workshop participants discussed the current state of the biocircular economy and the challenges faced. The participants voted on what they thought were the most important challenges to be developed. Of these, the three challenges that received the most votes were taken up for further processing at the workshop. The participants discussed in three groups  further development to reduce food waste, better utilization of waste generated during construction and demolition, and better utilization of the bio-based material generated in the city concern´s own operations for the concern´s own needs. From these themes, clear next steps were thought about, what should be done next. The workshop was carried out in the planned schedule and it fulfilled the goals set for the work.
