After two days of intense, passionate and exciting work, we managed to summarise in 27 words the spirit of the project in this Olite Manifesto, which we spoke about in the Congress of Deputies in Madrid, where we participated in a conference on rural proofing. Our workshop in Navarra was really productive.

As we have said, last Friday, as part of the trip to Navarra, we participated in a conference on rural proofing in the Spanish Congress of Deputies, to talk about the situation of the ‘rural guarantee mechanism’ in our respective countries and what is being done with this project of the InterregEurope programme.

Participants were Aare Kasemets (member of the Estonian Ministry of Rural Affairs), Georgi Simeonov (member of the Partnership Centre for Sustainability and Economic Growth of Bulgaria), Bernie Donnellan (representative of Galway County Council) and Jesús Mª Rodríguez (member of the Local Administration and Depopulation of the Government of Navarra). The panel was moderated by Miguel Martínez Tomey.

🗣️Aare Kasemets: "In Estonia we are trying to find a balance for the rural guarantee mechanism".

🗣️Georgi Simeonov: "In my country, there is a huge exodus from #rural, especially of young people".

🗣️Bernie Donnellan: "75% of the country's population lives in the county. We have a system of communication and public participation. We want to start from the grassroots and know what the population needs·.

🗣️Jesús Mª Rodríguez: "From the Government of Navarre / Nafarroako Gobernua we have given the importance that #ruralproofing requires and that is why we have included it in the general strategy on depopulation".

The day was covered by the media: 'El Español', 'eldiario.es', YouTube, 'navarra.es', 'Europa Press', Efe Agro
