4th Project Stakeholder Meeting - Bolzano
A recent meeting from the Interreg Europe CORE project partner the Autonomous Province of Bolzano – Alto Adige gathered representatives from composting and anaerobic fermentation plants, municipalities, private companies, and food waste experts to review two years of progress and discuss future goals. Key participants included members from the Laimburg Agricultural Research Centre and stakeholders from various sectors involved in waste management.
The meeting began with an overview of the CORE project, including its objectives, budget, and activity structure, aimed at enhancing waste management practices through interregional collaboration. Updates highlighted communication materials created for citizens, including videos on composting and anaerobic digestion, and a brochure to promote proper organic waste sorting.
Three recent initiatives were showcased: the "Compost Info Day" in Silandro, "Open Doors" at the fermentation plant in Lana, and the "Iwasteless" campaign on food waste reduction. Stakeholder Erdbau shared insights from a successful practice observed in Potsdam, Germany, during an international CORE meeting in September 2024.
Upcoming activities for the next two years include a feasibility study on digestate composting from wool biodigesters, small-scale green waste composting, and a training platform for composters. The session concluded with positive feedback, indicating strong support for ongoing and future initiatives in waste management.
