Composting for a Greener Future: Veszprém Students Event
On May 24, 2024, a significant educational event took place at the Monasteries and Gardens venue in Veszprém, organized by KDRIÜ Nonprofit Ltd., the University of Pannonia, and Veszprém Public Utility Services Ltd. The event was attended by 500 primary school students, all of whom had pre-registered for the occasion. The focus of the event was on sustainability, with a particular emphasis on composting—a theme decided by Hungarian stakeholders of the CORE project during their meeting in February 2024.
The event featured 14 interactive stations where students engaged in activities designed to teach them about the importance of waste reduction, waste management, and innovative ways to utilize waste. Through puzzles, skill games, and discussions, the children explored the details of composting and gained a deeper understanding of sustainability issues.
As part of the event, a brochure was distributed to all participating students and their teachers, reinforcing the day's lessons. Additionally, the organizers held a press conference to announce the installation of community composting bins in two locations within the city of Veszprém, an initiative partly of the CORE project aimed at enhancing local waste management practices.
