Świętokrzyskie municipalities learn about good practices

The Department of Regional Development, in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture, Climate and the Environment of the Marshall Office of Świętokrzyskie Region, is coordinating the CORE project - composting in rural areas in świętokrzyskie region, Poland. On 26 September 2024 our representatives attended the Assembly of the Ecological Association of Municipalities of the Koprzywianka River Basin and presented the assumptions of this international initiative to its members.

The aim of the project, which is being implemented under the Interreg Europe 2021-2027 programme, is to learn about innovative and effective solutions and to exchange experience on regional policy in the area of bio-waste management.

It involves representatives from eight European countries: Spain, Italy, Greece, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Sweden and Poland.

The meeting in Janczyce was attended by representatives of the 14 municipalities that make up the Ecological Association of Municipalities of the Koprzywianka River Basin. It is one of the regional stakeholders of CORE and takes an active part in the project activities.

The Intercommunal Municipal Waste Management Company, which hosted us, has taken over all waste management tasks from the municipalities. Among other things, it is responsible for the collection and management of BIO waste, and in the area of the Association's operation, 93% of rural households have declared that they have a ‘composter’.

The good practices that we learnt about during study visits to our foreign partners and which we shared with the meeting participants will help the municipalities to better prepare for the reuse and recycling of municipal waste.
