ENAIBLER partners learn about San Sebastián's AI development
Interreg Europe funded ENAIBLER project partners met in Donostia-San Sebastián, Basque Country, Spain for the project’s 4th site visit, hosted by Fomento de San Sebastián. The visit focused on development of the local Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem and initiatives supporting AI adoption.
Learning from San Sebastián’s AI ecosystem
The event started with an introduction to the city’s strategy for innovation by Yesenia Otamendi and Ainhoa Aldasoro Olanga. They explained how Donostia-San Sebastián is building an AI-friendly environment to help local businesses and public services grow.
Partners also met key AI organisations, including:
- BAIC - Basque Artificial Intelligence Center which provides resources and advice to help improve AI maturity was presented by Gorka Garcia.
- Nuavis an AI start-up using computer vision to identify defects in manufacturing products of local enterprises presented by its CEO Andres Navarro.
- Naru Healthcare an innovative AI start-up employing AI to identify oncology patients at risk of adverse health events was presented by co-founder Eider Sanchez.
- Vicomtech an impressive local research centre with a strong focus on AI topics such as AI for crowd management, for minority language translation and for health data analytics.
These experts shared how AI is being used in areas such as healthcare, manufacturing, and language processing to solve real-world problems.
New Faces at ENAIBLER
For the first time, the event welcomed new partners from Banat Regional Development Agency (Banat RDA). Branislav Milosav from Banat RDA shared their region’s vision and their plans to learn from ENAIBLER.
Workshops and Discussions
Partners took part in interactive workshops led by ENAIBLER Swedish partners of Umea University and the Municipality of Skelleftea to:
- Talk about how AI can improve public services.
- Learn how to use AI responsibly and ethically.
- Share ideas on creating strong AI communities and networks.
ENAIBLER partners and stakeholders, brought their unique perspectives, making the discussions even more diverse and insightful.
Working Together for a Better Future
The ENAIBLER project shows how European regions can join forces to make the most of AI in public administration. This site visit was a big step forward in helping partners learn and share ideas for AI adoption by public services to improve services and to support AI adoption by SME’s .
What’s Next?
The ENAIBLER project will keep exploring how AI can be used to support public policies. The next site visit will be in Poland hosted by Opolskie Centre for Economy Development.
