Regional food culture as driver for integrated rural development

Networking zone 14:30-15:00 networking talks
Citizens

In rural regions, agricultural food production is a main feature of economic activity. Regional food products and the related traditions, knowledge and activities are also at the heart of their regional cultural identity.

Rural regions can use this regional food culture as driver for integrated rural development. Boosting the consumption of sustainable, wholesome regional products can give an economic impulse to regional food producers and value chains while strengthening public health and well-being, sustainability and social cohesion in rural areas.

Naturpark Our (LUX) and Wirtschaftsagentur Burgenland (AT) plan to set up an Interreg Europe project to exchange policy opportunities for integrated rural development based on regional food culture.

We are looking for regional/local authorities and other policy relevant organisations that are interested to contribute to this initiative.
