Spaces for entrepreneurship
On 31 May and 1 June 2023, join us in Ghent to meet with peers and policymakers and discuss spaces for entrepreneurship.
What are spaces for entrepreneurship
Examples include incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces, fab labs, innovation hubs and technology parks. They provide access to resources and support that can help start-ups and SMEs overcome the challenges they face in the early stages of their development or in their different stages of growth and transformation.
In addition, these spaces can help create jobs and stimulate economic growth by providing a platform for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship and economic development spaces in urban environments are an important part of urban economic development strategies and policies.
In the wider context of the digital, green and social transformation of our economies and societies, they are increasingly integrated into broader and more integrated approaches to urban development.
What you can expect
Our thematic experts Mart Veliste and Rene Tonnisson will be your guides to discovering the topic of entrepreneurship and economic development spaces in urban environments
Throughout the two days, we will look into:
- Examples of physical spaces - such as Fab Labs, but also the way local administrations provide (policy) space for business development through specific entrepreneurship programmes
- Economic development initiatives with a strong entrepreneurial character from different European municipalities involved in Interreg Europe projects
- The role of municipalities to foster a positive entrepreneurial environment and help businesses thrive
