After much anticipation GOOD CITIES finally kicked off in the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024!
Under the leadership of the Association of Municipalities of Tartu County (Estonia), municipal partners Malmö  (Sweden), Jyväskylä (Finland), Tilburg (Netherlands), Újbuda (Hungary), Region of Western Macedonia and Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia (CLuBE) (Greece) are joining forces to tackle overconsumption in our cities supported by advisory partner Eutropian.

The timing was perfect as this lively university town was crowned 2024 European Capital of Culture. The three-day event allowed partners to meet in person, fostering collaboration and building a shared vision for the project.

During the event, the six participating cities and Eutropian explored the interconnectedness of economic, social, and environmental factors in urban planning. One of the most inspiring sessions, "Imagine Your Sharing City in 2050," had the team visualising cities with innovative sharing facilities and opportunities everywhere. The project also featured a "Good Practices" session, led by Bax, where partners shared and examined successful sharing initiatives across Europe to learn from their strengths and innovations.

In the coming months, GOOD CITIES will work to establish the sharing economy in local contexts across partner cities, aiming to enhance sustainability, empower citizens, and foster strong local networks. Public authorities will integrate sharing economy frameworks into their local policies, addressing issues such as circularity and cultural ambitions.

We are excited about the next steps in this important journey toward creating more sustainable, sharing cities.
