As part of the GreenGov project and the Shifting Economy strategy, Brussels Economy and Employment of the Brussels Capital Region organized stakeholder meetings on 4 June and 15 October 2024. Representatives from Innoviris, Brussels Environment, citydev.brussels, and the Port of Brussels came together to explore green finance solutions tailored to the Brussels Capital Region.

Key highlights:

  • GreenGov insights: the objectives and the workplan of the GreenGov project were shared, focusing on the topics that are particularly relevant for the Brussels Capital Region, such as the implementation of the Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) principle.
  • Reform of R&D aid: Innoviris presented the recent reform of their innovation and research and development aid, which further integrates sustainability criteria and the DNSH principle into its eligibility conditions.
  • Regional expertise: the October meeting featured a presentation on the practical implementation of the DNSH principle by the Walloon Region for its Go Circular call for projects, allowing for a valuable exchange of experience and a preliminary feedback on the difficulties encountered and solutions found for applying the principle to concrete cases.

The stakeholders continue to follow the GreenGov project with interest and hope to learn more on how green finance instruments can be adapted to fit the needs of micro and small enterprises in particular, paving the way for a greener, more inclusive economy.

The next stakeholder meeting will take place on 18 March 2025. Stay tuned for more updates!
