We are thrilled to announce that the official launch of our activities took place on May 21, 2024. This virtual event marked the beginning of a transformative journey aimed at enhancing Jewish cultural heritage as a catalyst for sustainable tourism. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring together our partners and the vibrant cities participating in the JEWELS project.

During the kickoff event, we had the pleasure of delving into the rich tapestry of Jewish cultural heritage across Europe, with presentations from the six captivating cities that will be the target of our activities: Ferrara in Italy, Coimbra in Portugal, Breda in the Netherlands, Erfurt in Germany, Riga in Latvia, and Lublin in Poland. Each city shared their unique narratives, showcasing the depth and diversity of their Jewish heritage sites, traditions, and historical significance.

The municipality of Ferrara, serving as the lead partner, provided insights into the project's framework and timeline, reminding each partner of their responsabilities and setting the priorities for the first semester of activities. The event was also the occasion to recap the fundamental principles of the Interreg Europe program and to elucidate the legal and financial intricacies essential for the seamless execution of our collaborative efforts.

This virtual kickoff served as a cornerstone for fostering strong partnerships and laying the groundwork for collaborative initiatives. As we look ahead, we are eagerly anticipating our first in-person meeting scheduled for October in Ferrara. This gathering promises to further solidify our bonds, facilitate meaningful exchanges, and propel our collective mission forward.
