Unveiling JEWELS TOUR Partners: Development Agency of Lviv

Lviv region is known for its multiculturalism, a place where diverse communities, including the Jewish community, have shaped the region’s unique identity.

Jewish heritage is an integral part of the cultural landscape reflected in such monuments as the Great Synagogue in Zhovkva, the Synagogue in Velyki Mosty, the Ishre Lev Prayer House and the Jewish Cemetery in Belz, and the ruins of synagogues in Sokal and Brody.
Participation in the JEWELS TOUR project will contribute to the preservation of the cultural heritage of Lvivska oblast and create new opportunities for the development of joint tourist routes, opening new prospects for cultural and economic exchange between the countries.

A team consisting of the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region and the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Lviv Regional State Administration, which acts as an associate partner, is involved in the achievement of the project goals.
The Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region founded by Lviv Regional State Administration and Lviv Regional Council is a participant in the implementation of the state regional policy. The Agency’s activities include: preparation and implementation of development strategies and regional development programs, organization of consultative and educational events for representatives of local authorities, in particular on tools for the development of tourism and preservation of cultural heritage.
The Department of Tourism and Resorts of Lviv Regional State Administration is focused on creating a positive image and popularizing the region as a tourist destination in Ukraine and abroad, implementing state policy in the field of tourism and resorts, organizing the implementation of Ukrainian legislation in the field of tourism, resorts, and recreation, and monitoring its implementation.
Due to these efforts, Lvivska oblast, together with international partners, is working to strengthen cultural ties and increase the region’s tourist attractiveness.

The Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region will work with project partners to develop common approaches to the preservation of cultural heritage. This exchange of experience between the consortium will not only integrate cultural heritage into the development of sustainable tourism but will also open up new perspectives for cultural and economic enrichment at the European level.
