LOTTI Project in Apulia: Local Dialogue on Industrial Change
As part of the Interreg Europe LOTTI project, the Apulia Region, through its Research and International Relations Section, along with the technical support of ARTI (Regional Agency for Technology, Technology Transfer, and Innovation), has been actively promoting an innovative, sustainable, and resilient industrial transition that draws on the region’s rich local identities and traditions.
First Local Dialogue in Brindisi – 24 January 2025
On January 24th, Brindisi hosted the first of the Local Dialogues under the LOTTI project. These events serve as a platform for discussing the future of industrial policies and the role local identities play in revitalising regional economies. Participants, including institutions, businesses, and citizens, came together to explore how traditional industries could be modernised and how public authorities can improve policy-making in response to local needs.
The dialogue in Brindisi highlighted the significance of integrating regional cultural heritage and traditions into the industrial transition, fostering collaboration among stakeholders to shape policies that promote sustainable innovation.
Second and Final Local Dialogue in Taranto – 12 February 2025
Building on the success of the Brindisi event, the second and final Local Dialogue took place in Taranto on February 12, 2025. Held at the Headquarters of the Cabinet of the Puglia Region in Taranto, this session continued the conversation on promoting an industrial transition that aligns with the local identity and traditions of the region. The event focused on strengthening the capacity of public authorities to design policies that can effectively drive this transformation.
The goal was to ensure that local communities are not only participants but also leaders in their own industrial transition, fostering new job opportunities and encouraging entrepreneurial activity in line with the Regional Smart Specialization Strategy (S3). These dialogues are an essential part of ensuring the future growth and resilience of the region's industrial sectors.
The Role of Local Dialogues in Shaping Future Policies
The LOTTI Local Dialogues have provided an invaluable opportunity for active citizen involvement, bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders to discuss innovative strategies and policies for the future of the region. These events are crucial in rethinking how local identities and traditions can be leveraged for sustainable development, creating a lasting impact on the industrial and economic future of Apulia.
As the project progresses, Apulia Region and ARTI will continue to play a leading role in shaping policies that encourage innovation, promote sustainable growth, and address the evolving needs of local communities.
