Stakeholder Meeting in Santander discuss Best Practices

The best practice to be exported to the consortium is the Besaya Europa model. 

The main objective within this initiative is framed is the constitution of a Besaya Citizen Jury, made up of 35 people from the Besaya region in order to resolve the question: How to take advantage of European green funds (ESF, FEDER AND NextGenerationEU) in the Besaya basin to create and/or maintain jobs that respect the criteria of a fair and inclusive ecological transition?

The idea is to involve citizens in a useful and direct way to improve institutional quality, trust and the feeling of belonging, and to promote the promotion of the culture of transparency and accountability of the public institutions involved.

Value cohesion policy as a vital element for economic growth, improvement in quality of life and sustainable development.

The Besaya Citizen Jury met for 6 weekends between in 2021, and listened to different experts, as well as proposals from interested groups and people who had something to contribute. They agreed on a common vision on how to invest these European funds in the area. They also be  assessed and proposed concrete measures to transform this investment into employment within the framework of the European ecological transition. Finally, they delivered a written recommendation to the Government of Cantabria.
