2nd Stakeholder Workshop in Postojna

As part of the Milestone project, the Municipality of Postojna held a workshop on 10th January 2024, where stakeholders and experts from various fields who deal with the challenges of migrants and refugees on a daily basis met. The project sustainably addresses the challenges of integrating foreigners coming from areas outside the EU into the labor market. As part of the project, the municipality of Postojna will upgrade the strategic document Program for young people. The program will include guidelines, methods and activities that will enable young migrants between the ages of 15 and 29 to integrate more easily and effectively into the local environment. With the program, the Municipality wants to address the migrant issue and the challenge of labor shortage in the local environment.

The study will be the basis for upgrading already existing programsThe workshop brought together many stakeholders and experts from various fields. Together, they started the fundamental study on which the project will be based. The study included an overview of the current situation and the biggest challenges faced by stakeholders. They focused on four key areas - education and lifelong learning, the daily life of migrants, the local ecosystem and their tools, and the local hospitality culture and political context. In these areas, they highlighted the systems that are already working and the programs that successfully integrate foreigners into the local area, while at the same time they gave suggestions on how to upgrade the already existing systems and better address the specific challenges that the municipality of Postojna is facing in this area.

During the workshop, the group discussed following issues:

- LOCAL ECOSYSTEMS AND THEIR TOOLS

- DAILY LIFE OF MIGRANTS

- EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING

- LOCAL HOSPITALITY CULTURE AND POLITICAL CONTEXT

What are the next steps?
