The role of regions and cities in the fight against climate change will be highlighted, given that a large part of the competencies related to climate action and in such crucial sectors as waste management and the circular economy, mobility, water, renewable energies, and the protection of the environment and biodiversity, reside in the Autonomous Communities and Municipalities.

CLIMA congress is a space that will bring together prominent leaders, experts and professionals in the climate change and environment sector from around the world to address the challenges and opportunities linked to climate change in the Andalusian region, as well as in the broader European and global context. For this reason, the European Commission has designated it as a complementary event for the European Week of Regions and Cities (EURegionsWeek 2024).

Objectives of the congress:

  1. Contribute to the enhancement of the role of regions and cities in the development of regional adaptation and mitigation strategies that are relevant and effective for the region of Andalusia.
  2. To advance the exchange and improvement of knowledge on climate change, fostering constructive debate and collaboration among participants and improving awareness and active participation in the urgency to act on climate change.
  3. To mobilize and encourage climate action to promote the adoption of sustainable practices in different areas and collaboration between the public, private and civil society sectors, and to make visible the reality of climate change in Andalusia and the climate action carried out by the administrations and economic and social agents.
