Let's plant a forest together – fighting global warming!
Marek Jońca, member of the Voivodeship Board, took part in the campaign: "Let's plant a forest together – fighting global warming." On the 27th of October, in the Pińczów Forest District, students of the Primary School in Stępociny, foresters, local government officials, and employees of the Marshal's Office planted young trees together. The aim of the campaign is ecological education of the young generation in the field of environmental protection.
The Marshal's Office, together with the Regional Directorate of State Forests, wants to popularise the idea of commitment to care for the local environment among young people through such initiatives.
Today we are struggling with the extreme effects of climate change, torrential rains and lack of water, enormous heat and sudden temperature drops.
– Today we are struggling with the extreme effects of climate change, torrential rains and lack of water, enormous heat and sudden temperature drops – said Marek Jońca, member of the Management Board. – Therefore, due to the ongoing degradation of the natural environment and weather anomalies unfavorable for life, there is a great need to promote knowledge about the important role of trees, a symbol of life.
The great forest planting was important for local experts. Employees from the Department of Nature and Climate of the Marshal's Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, the Pińczów Forest District, the Świętokrzyskie and Nadnidzia Landscape Parks Complex, the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Kielce, the Central Research Laboratory, Kielce Branch of the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection, as well as the Provincial Inspectorate of Environmental Protection in Kielce took part to the event. At the end, foresters and employees of the Marshal's Office prepared a bonfire for the students, where they could relax and roast sausages. Action called "Let's plant a forest together – fighting global warming" is part of the NACAO project entitled "Nature-based carbon dioxide emissions offsetting", implemented by the Marshal's Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship as part of the Interreg Europe 2021–2027 program. As part of the NACAO project, we are looking for solutions to effectively offset carbon dioxide emissions. One such action is planting trees that absorb carbon dioxide and mitigate climate change.
