Stakeholders in interview – 1

Nature-based Carbon Offset project partners met in Sevilla, Spain, in June 2023. In addition to partner members there were also stakeholders participating to the meeting. Finnish stakeholder Matti Virkkunen from Finnish Forest Centre tells his impressions of the meeting. 

As a take-home message Virkkunen was impressed by the Good Practices from the other project partners, such as salt march area in Andalucia, Spain. In two-day meeting stakeholders got to know how to determine the carbon sinks and storage in the area. When asked was there something that could be implemented in Finland, Virkkunen answered that he strongly brings take-home message about taking care of peatland soils in the Finnish forests. They are very diverse and valuable ecosystems.
