Regional Council of Central Finland is a joint municipal authority in charge of regional development. In their work, regional development goes hand in hand with regional land use planning. Their goal is to create wellbeing of the citizens, business and environment in Central Finland. Regional Council has The Regional Assembly, which is the highest decision-making body with 58 members. The member municipalities choose their representatives according to their political power relationships in each local election.
Climate questions have been on agenda already long time. Regional Council of Central Finland has supported regional climate change target setting via different tools such as planning, strategies and climate programs. Regional Council has prepared a roadmap for carbon neutrality to support the whole region's climate work. Organisation also guides and coordinates regional climate strategies preparation, communication between municipalities as well as climate-related projects on the area.
