The inaugural face-to-face meeting of the strategic committee of the Originn project took place in Vic on January 25th, marking a significant milestone for the initiative. Attendees included stakeholders from various sectors in Catalonia, such as businesses, research centers, local and sectoral entities, and administration, all with connections to the rural world and the agri-food sector.

The primary objective of the committee aligns with the overarching goals of the Originn project. It aims to engage in discussions on strategies and public policies related to rural development and innovation in the agri-food sector. The committee seeks to propose measures and instruments to strengthen these strategies and policies. Additionally, it serves as a space for representatives from the sector with interests in the rural environment to convene, facilitating discussions and proposals for collaborative projects and initiatives.

The focal point of this first face-to-face meeting was the theme of digitization, marking the core focus for the project during the second semester. The session commenced with a presentation from Simone Sasso, the representative of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. Invited by the Lead partner, Sasso provided insights into the Commission's instruments for the development of rural areas.

Following this, the Department offered a brief recap of the project's objectives and components. They highlighted the most relevant instruments aimed at supporting the digitization of agri-food companies. The second part of the meeting featured stakeholders presenting their best practices.

The gathering resulted in a comprehensive compilation of available digitization instruments in the territory, enabling the identification of additional resources within the sector. Stay tuned for more updates on the Originn project's journey towards promoting rural development and innovation in the agri-food sector.
