Vilnius Study Visit and IPeR on May 14 and 15th
On May 14th and 15th, PROACTsme has carried out a study Visit in Vilnius, Lithuania, in order to explore the Lithuanian data analysis and artificial intelligence scope!!
The aim of this visit was to put in the center to importance of data collection, data analysis and business statistics in order to transform the public sector and the interaction between administration and businesses.
During the first day of this visit, partners shared their regional and/or local scope regarding how business data is collected in each country and what business interaction looks like in terms of data and proactive services. Moreover, there were some key explanations about the Lithuanian scope:
From the EU Science, Research and Innovation, the project team has been able to have a further in-depth scope of Europe’s current digitalization, GovTech background and Start Ups. This presentation gathered important information and working trends regarding AI and public administrations, as well as interoperability and the role of AI. Some important ideas regarding this presentation are:
1. AI is a game changer for the public sector, and so is interoperability to ensure a smooth AI adoption.
2. AI is a key tool to treat data and transform it into organized, structure and workable data.
3. Case study background: out of 740 identified AI Cases, 26% are supporting interoperability.
4. Highly important the sematic approach for AI and interoperability.
The Ministry of Innovation provided us with an insight about the policies and goals for the digitalization in Lithuania.
Tomas Misevicius from the Information Society Development Committee, introduced E-Government Services. Lithuania is currently on the 14th Digital Economy and Society Index as of 2022, thus eGovernment services has been a priority to the country for the last few years.
From Statistics Lithuania State Data Agency, the PROACTsme team had a first approach to the role of business statistics in Lithuania.
Neurotechnology is a hot topic nowadays. The study visit made sure to have a spot for the this topic, as Julius Cesynas explained all about biometric data and its implication in the day-to-day of the Lithuanian Technology.
On the day 2 of the study visit, the PROACTsme Interreg Europe team focused on internal and European best practices as well as Qualitative Research proposal to advance in the PROACTsme objectives.
The University of Limerick then moderated a workshop on the lines of best practices, EU regulation and data protection. What were the key points of this workshop?
- The dynamic of the session was an open discussion about AI and best practices in our organizations.
- Barriers of AI adoption in the interaction with SMEs was also a hot topic throughout the discussion as well as what is considered a visible application of the AI in the work field.
- Reflection was encourage throughout the workshop, with a special focus on fair accessibility to AI tools and methods in each organization.
- The common consensus with the partners was that fair accessibility is not existing currently due to management culture or EU regulations.
The day was followed by a visit at the Vilnius Municipality to know more about the data management in their day-to-day scope, such as traffic jams to compare street traffic and identifying its causes, roof mantainance and waste control. An important takeout for the project about this visit the municipality’s data management goals: Users, data quality, security and transparency.
Last on our list was a visit to the Center of Registers to know more about the digital transformation and the reduction of bureaucracy in interaction between business and institutions.
