Workshop in Slovakia: "Development of energy communities"
On September 18th SAPI - Slovak Association of Sustainable Energy organized workshop called "Development of energy communities in Slovakia", which took place at SIEA.
Slovak REC4EU team created synergies with SAPI and their project COMMENCE and participated on the organization of this workshop.
Within the project COMMENCE, SAPI is creating the National Handbook for Energy Community Founders, which was presented during the event. The main goal of this handbook is to bring the answers on many questions (legal, technical, managerial, etc.) for interested parties in creating of RECs in Slovakia.
Examples of good practice from Austria were an interesting input. Austria's approach in building energy communities, political support in establishing communities and orientation towards meeting climate goals can be used as inspiration for building and supporting energy communities in Slovakia.
During the workshop, the current state of energy communities, currently implemented energy community projects and the vision for the future of energy communities in Slovakia were presented.
In addition, the first possibilities of financing energy communities through the national SIEA Green Enterprise project were introduced. The first applications for funding should be possible by the end of 2024.
SIEA made use of the stakeholder group that was built up during the REC4EU project. Their participation in the workshop was extremely beneficial, either in terms of discussion or short informal conversations.
The insights and outputs from the workshop will be used to the fullest extent possible for the REC4EU project.
