On November 28th and 29th, the picturesque town of Duras in Lot-et-Garonne (Southwest France) welcomed an inspiring event co-organized by the Fédération Des Moulins de France (FDMF), Association des Moulins de Nouvelle-Aquitaine (AMNA) and Agence de l'eau Adour-Garonne. 

Over 80 mill owners, experts, and curious gathered to scan the diverse world of mills blending their rich heritage with forward-thinking innovations! 

November 28th 

Participants were had a chance to take part in insightful presentations:  the history of navigation on the Dropt River, the innovative "rouets en cuve" of the South-West, ancient gaulish stones, and preservation projects led by the French Heritage Foundation. Stephen Midgley led a session on the European RENEWAT project, highlighting the FDMF's role and demonstrating how traditional hydraulic systems can integrate renewable energy to achieve ecological goals.

November 29th

This second day brought together mill owners and stakeholder joined by partners from the Adour-Garonne Agency, for in-depth discussions on aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity. The day emphasized the critical role of mill owners in managing hydraulic infrastructure while striving for a sustainable balance between preserving heritage and protecting natural environments.
