Two new partners, Udhetim i Lire and Lviv City Council, officially joined the RENEWAT consortium. Here you can discover more about them, their role, and objectives!

Udhetim i Lire - Liberi di Viaggiare, Discovery Partner - Albania

Udhetim i Lire is an association that focuses on tourism, cultural heritage, youth, environment, and rural development. It has cooperated on projects at European and international levels, as well as with territorial public actors such as municipalities. Their knowledge of the territorial organization of public actors in Albania and their expertise in capacity building, up-skilling, and learning experiences bring significant value to the RENEWAT consortium.

As a discovery partner, Udhetim i Lire will make an important contribution to the RENEWAT activities and in promoting the advantages of repowering of water mills in Albania, a country historically significant in terms of hydropower development. Udhetim i Lire also aims to learn from the project in order to improve policy instruments at different scales.

Lviv City Council, Project Partner - Ukraine

Lviv City Council is committed to supporting national initiatives that promote the rational use of energy, enhance energy efficiency, and harness energy from small rivers. Many mill buildings in the area have been destroyed or abandoned, and the surviving mills in Lviv City are mostly in an unusable condition.

As part of the RENEWAT project, Lviv City Council aims to improve the "Action Plan for Sustainable Energy Development and Climate" by introducing the repowering of water mills as a renewable energy production source. This initiative will lead to e better allocation of resources from the Structural Funds, facilitate the renovation of water mills for electricity production, create new financial instruments, and reinforce the promotion of energy communities.
