Stakeholder Group Meeting in Slovenia

The stakeholder group, which was formed to improve the Local Development strategy of LAS Goričko, met again. A meeting of the board of directors was also convened on Friday, October 27, 2023, whose members are also in the stakeholder group.

Katja Karba, from Smart House, presented to the stakeholders two good practices of involving young people in rural areas in entrepreneurship, which she learned in Riga, Latvia. They are: "Go Remote" and ''Countryside will be!''.

Based on the briefing, the stakeholders commented on the following:

• Examples of practices are interesting and could be implemented as a general measure also in Goričko territory, since the lack of entrepreneurial skills among young people is evident;
• The strategy manager also proposes structural changes to the policy, namely to prepare such criteria and regulations for the tender documentation that would prioritize projects that address youth and entrepreneurial content.
• Looking ahead, it is necessary to promote the establishment of youth organizations, mentoring of young people (apprenticeship too, intergenerational cooperation), the improvement of secondary education, which does not support old crafts and practical skills in agriculture, the establishment of an employment centre for young people and a research centre that could encourage start-ups.
