Study Visit to Shape the Future of Rural Youth in Slovenia
The RuralYouthFuture initiative, aimed at enhancing youth policies for sustainable rural development, will hold a study visit in Slovenia from September 9th to 12th, 2024. This event will gather international partners, experts, and stakeholders to explore innovative strategies for empowering young people in rural areas across Europe.
The study visit will be hosted by the Smart House, an institution for research and sustainable development Martjanci in the Pomurje region, offering participants a blend of discussions, presentations, and site visits highlighting successful local projects. Mayor Uroš Kamenšek will deliver a keynote speech on Puconci's youth strategy, while Mr. Jasmin Kukec will present the region’s Local Development Strategy (2023–2027). Mrs. Doris Letina will provide insights into young farmers' roles in rural development.
Attendees will also engage in a roundtable discussion moderated by Barbara Zrimšek from RTV Slovenia, which will address key issues such as youth migration from less developed regions and share best practices from the RuralYouthFuture project. The agenda further includes presentations from young entrepreneurs, local development projects like the "PONI of Pomurje," and a visit to various successful local businesses such as the Passero Estate and the Puhan Tourist Farm.
The visit will culminate in a Steering Committee meeting to assess the progress of the project and plan future activities.
