2nd Stakeholder Meeting: Key Challenges in Barcelona
On September 3rd and 4th, 2024, the Public Employment Service of Catalonia (SOC) hosted the second SALAM Stakeholder Meeting in Barcelona. The purpose of this gathering was to identify critical challenges and needs associated with the implementation and development of the ACOL Program—a strategic initiative under the SALAM Project aimed at supporting the social inclusion of immigrants.
This stakeholder group comprises ten organizations, selected based on their type, technical structure, and specific areas of expertise. Their first meeting took place in July 2024, setting a foundation for this collaborative framework. For the September sessions, SOC distributed a detailed Workshop Script to facilitate informed discussions. Stakeholders were encouraged to reflect on four key areas before the event:
- The role and support mechanisms of entities benefitting from the ACOL Program.
- The target demographic, specifically individuals in irregular administrative situations.
- Challenges tied to policy implementation.
- Legal and administrative considerations affecting the policy and its recipients
The workshop outcomes enabled SOC to pinpoint areas requiring attention within the ACOL Program, with a dual objective: enhancing the policy’s effectiveness and improving the dignity and quality of life for its immigrant beneficiaries. This initiative represents a significant step in refining the collaborative efforts of the SALAM Project’s partners, paving the way for impactful social inclusion policies in Catalonia.
