Introducing SALAM Discovery Partner: Poltava City Council
The Poltava City Council is a local government body with responsibility for implementing local policies, providing public services, and addressing the needs of the city's residents. Due to the ongoing hostilities, Poltava has become a significant hub for internally displaced persons (IDPs) from other regions of Ukraine. In response, we have proactively developed strategies to integrate IDPs into the community and guarantee their social, cultural, and educational advancement.

- To establish a secure environment and facilitate social integration of IDPs;
- To develop educational programs for IDP adults;
- To guarantee equal access to services and resources for all community members;
- To integrate IDPs through cultural activities that promote social cohesion and a shared identity;
- To provide social housing for IDPs to stabilize their situation and facilitate their adaptation.
Participation in the SALAM project is an important opportunity for us to learn best practices in integrating IDPs into communities, expanding our knowledge in the areas of social adaptation, housing, and building sustainable educational models.We are particularly interested in learning more about effective approaches to supporting IDPs through educational, cultural, and civic initiatives, as well as in strengthening our cooperation with other European cities in the field of integration and development. Furthermore, the SALAM project will help us to evaluate and adapt approaches that can be effectively applied in our community for long-term development.
