Stakeholder Meeting in Region Västra Götaland

On 17 September 2024, stakeholders gathered in Mark Municipality to discuss and plan critical activities for Semester 2 of the SALAM project. The meeting brought together representatives from Västra Götaland Region (VGR), Mölndal Municipality, and University West, aiming to shape future activities and strengthen regional collaboration.

The stakeholders agreed on forming a regional steering committee, composed of up to six members from diverse backgrounds. This transdisciplinary group will include professionals from civil society, academia, business, and education.

The group discussed plans for larger stakeholder events in Semester 2, starting with an event on 29 October 2024, aimed at building bridges between third-country nationals (migrants) and civil servants involved in labour market integration.
Another key event will focus on gathering employers and businesses in Trollhättan to foster collaboration on regional labour market integration. The possibility of upscaling this initiative at an interregional level, potentially involving a large stakeholder event in Stuttgart in January 2025, was also discussed.

The meeting gave stakeholders a clearer direction on how to proceed with SALAM activities. Establishing the regional steering committee is a key priority, as this will provide a strategic framework for future actions. The committee’s work will offer valuable insights into the regional implementation of the project and enhance cooperation with the SALAM consortium.

With upcoming events, including the October stakeholder meeting and the Stuttgart partner meeting, the region is preparing for significant progress in addressing its policy needs and strengthening collaboration across sectors.
