Key research findings

We are excited to announce the release of our latest transnational report, which synthesises findings from regional needs assessments across nine European regions.

This report provides essential insights into the needs, attitudes, and perspectives toward the social economy, aiming to inform policy development and support the growth of social economy enterprises (SEEs) throughout Europe.

Common Challenges Faced by Social Economy Enterprises

The report highlights several common challenges faced by SEEs, including limited access to finance, complex regulatory frameworks, and a general lack of public awareness. Stakeholders from regions such as Latvia, Portugal, and Bulgaria identified financial support as a significant barrier to development, while participants from Germany and Poland noted bureaucratic hurdles that hinder operations.

Enabling Factors for Growth in the Social Economy

Despite these challenges, the report reveals enabling factors that can bolster the social economy, including strong networks and municipal support. In regions like Germany and Spain, local collaborations have proven effective in fostering growth and innovation. Importantly, the report underscores the need for targeted policy support, streamlined regulations, and enhanced educational initiatives focused on social entrepreneurship.

To explore the detailed findings and implications for policy and practice, and to understand how the social economy can address societal challenges and foster sustainable development across Europe, we invite you to read the full report.
