KMOP Presents SECON Project in Greece
On the 26th of September, KMOP proudly presented the SECON project during the "Entrepreneurship with Positive Social Impact #2" event which was held at Impact Hub Athens. The event highlighted the challenges and opportunities in the labour market and emphasized the role of socially responsible businesses in fostering social well-being.
SECON, led by the Region of Peloponnese in partnership with KMOP and other European organisations, aims to drive policy improvements and enhance the social economy across EU regions. By fostering best practices, SECON seeks to promote regional social innovation and facilitate the green and digital transitions through initiatives supporting social enterprises.
Dr. Yannis Pappas, Head of Programmes of KMOP and Mr. Konstantinos Styliaras, Analyst of SBE, referred to the importance of socially responsible businesses, which focus on positive social impact. They stressed that these businesses can provide answers to modern challenges such as climate change, poverty and inequalities. In particular, Dr. Yannis Pappas, presented how the role of the Social Impact Manager can effectively link corporate social responsibility with community development.
During the event, representatives of social enterprises distinguished for their actions presented initiatives that promote social welfare and employment.
Maria Giannetou, Communications Director of Junior Achievement Greece, presented JA's actions for social entrepreneurship in schools, which empower students.
Afterwards, Mrs. Efi Chrysou, Founder of the "School Synergy Snacks" and Mr. Konstantinos Karras, President of the "School Synergy Snacks" Joint Venture. "The Smiley", analysed the role of social enterprises in creating opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities, underlining the need for social integration and employment of these people.
Afroditi Azari, Senior Project Manager at KMOP, presented SECON’s key objectives, which include empowering social enterprises, improving access to funding, and encouraging responsible consumerism. Through capacity building and business support, SECON aims to strengthen the social economy, promoting sustainable growth and community development across Europe.
