SKALE2CT Local Infoday at University of Turin
On the 5thof December 2024, the University of Turin hosted the Local Infoday dedicated to the European project SKALE2CT, part of the Interreg Europe programme. The event, organised by the Metropolitan City of Turin, had two main objectives: firstly, to present the project and its positive implications for the territory; secondly, to provide students with a more comprehensive overview of the importance of European territorial cooperation and European projects for the development of the local context.
The meeting was held in the presence of students enrolled in the 'SME and Start-up Law' course at the Law School. The event began with an institutional welcome by Davide Ferro, who presented the Metropolitan City of Turin and its role in promoting transnational collaboration and local development. Subsequently, Marco Milano presented an overview of the context of European territorial cooperation, highlighting the positive impact of European projects in reducing economic and social disparities between regions.
A presentation of the SKALE2CT project followed, led by Davide Ferro and Ilenia Ceci, highlighting the initiative’s goal of enhancing the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by strengthening business acceleration services in emerging sectors. The project's main goals are to promote executive leadership, enhance access to specialised infrastructure for SMEs and attract and retain talent within participating regions.
In the second part of the event, the students were involved in a group activity aimed at analysing some of the good practices presented by the project partners. In particular, it was decided to assign students the good practices validated by Interreg Europe experts and, therefore, also accessible via the ‘Interreg Europe’ platform, in order to promote awareness of the platform itself. Divided into three teams, participants discussed strengths, challenges, and the potential transferability of these practices to the local context. During the final restitution session, each group presented their findings to the rest of the participants, proposing concrete solutions for implementing the practices, while also highlighting their limitations and potential difficulties.
The event constituted a significant opportunity to engage young people in the SKALE2CT network and to facilitate their comprehension of pivotal aspects of European cooperation. The active participation of the students and the dialogue with the experts contributed to greater awareness of the impact of European projects on the territory, underscoring the value of transnational collaboration and shared experiences.
