Meeting with stakeholders

The Metropolitan City of Turin has organized two stakeholder meetings within the framework of the SKALE2CT project, aiming to enhance its policy instrument.

The meetings took place in the virtual classrooms of the Metropolitan City of Turin on January 27th and February 3rd. During these sessions, two project partners—the Portuguese National Agency for Innovation (ANI) and Grenoble-Alpes Métropole—were invited to present their socio-economic contexts and share their best practices with stakeholders from the Turin area.

The first meeting, held on January 27, began with an institutional welcome from Sonia Cambursano, Councillor of the Metropolitan City of Turin for Economic Development, Productive Activities, Tourism, and Strategic Planning. Rita Ribeiro, public innovation policy manager at ANI, introduced ANI, the Portuguese National Agency for Innovation, explaining its central role in bridging science and the economy. Subsequently, Rui Miranda, coordinator of IPN TECBIS-Business Accelerator, and Helena Maio, advisor to the Board of Directors of Portugal Ventures, presented two best practices from the Portuguese partner: the IPN Business Accelerator and the CALL INNOV-ID initiative.

Thanks to the presentations and the subsequent Q&A session, participants were able to explore the key results achieved through these initiatives and assess their potential transferability to regions beyond Portugal.

The second meeting, on February 3rd, featured the French partner Grenoble-Alpes Métropole. After the institutional welcome by Sonia Cambursano, Céline Blanchon, innovation officer dedicated to the animation of the energy sector in the Metropolitan city of Grenoble, introduced stakeholders to the Local Economic Pact (LEP), the policy instrument of Grenoble, and outlined the main tools for improving the LEP. The best practices presented—iForum, Tarmac Incubator, and the Grenoble Alpes Club for

Start-ups Scaling Up—sparked great interest among stakeholders, who engaged in a Q&A session to further examine the transferability and success factors of these initiatives.

It was an opportunity for local stakeholders to explore other country’s socio-economic context and explore possible synergies with the project partners; 16 people attended at the first meeting and 10 attended at the second, including officials from the Metropolitan City of Turin, representatives of Polytechnic of Turin, clusters, start-ups, business incubators and accelerators, and researchers.

These stakeholder meetings represented a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange and collaboration, fostering a deeper understanding of innovative policies and best practices from Portugal and France. The insights gained will contribute to refining the policy instrument of the Metropolitan City of Turin, enhancing its support for local innovation and economic development. Moving forward, the discussions and connections established during these sessions will serve as a foundation for future cooperation, promoting the transferability of successful initiatives and strengthening the regional innovation ecosystem.
