Spills of liquid waste into the sea (black water and gray water, bilge water, etc.) from large ships, from ferries to cruise ships, are currently permitted by international legislation or by the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution caused by ships, better known as "MARPOL 73/78, and are contributing to polluting the Mediterranean.

The project proposal
The fundamental part of the project consists in examining the functioning of the port areas of the partner countries dedicated to the reception of waste from ships, especially cruise ships, in order to make the port areas more efficient and the services more economical, collecting best practices among partners.
