OTRI Unizar, the lead partner of the VIADUCT project, marked a significant milestone by hosting the second regional stakeholders meeting on February 7, providing a platform to share insights and discuss findings from the comprehensive study on the valorisation of research results.

The regional study, aimed at analysing measures supporting research-based spin-off creation, delivered key insights into Aragon's entrepreneurial landscape:

Survey Highlights:

  • 64 surveys completed by entrepreneurial stakeholders in Aragon.
  • Established public financing instruments and support programs for early-stage companies.
  • Areas for improvement identified in spin-offs during scaling and consolidating phases.
  • Challenges encompass fostering an entrepreneurial culture among researchers and streamlining legal frameworks.

In-Depth Analysis: The study covered various facets, including entrepreneurial culture promotion, effectiveness of research result valorisation methodologies, required business skills among researchers, legal and financial barriers, and support availability for spin-off creation and consolidation.

Key Takeaways:

  • Aragon showcases robust public funding mechanisms and incubation support.
  • Challenges persist in instilling an entrepreneurial mindset among researchers and simplifying legal frameworks.
  • Opportunities include promoting a market-oriented behavior among researchers and enhancing support during scaling and consolidating phases.

Furthermore, the study underscores the importance of collaborative efforts and strategic agreements, both regionally and nationally, to address identified challenges. It emphasises that legislative changes at the national level are imperative for tangible progress in technology transfer.

Engagement and Collaboration: During the event, stakeholders engaged in lively debates facilitated by VIADUCT, a platform fostering discussions and sharing best practices from across Europe. The aim is to enhance research results valorisation in Aragon, creating a vibrant ecosystem that promotes innovation and sustainable growth.

The findings from this stakeholders meeting in Aragon will play a pivotal role in guiding the VIADUCT project's learning process, contributing to the overarching goal of advancing research-based spin-offs and entrepreneurial ventures in the region.
