Spin-off creation in diverse European regions
As a follow up to the 2024 VIADUCT Interregional Analysis report, in April 2023, the project partners and guest met online to discuss the finds and refine support measures for spin-off companies.
The basis for the meeting, published in March 2024, and available here, demonstrates how cooperation and sharing among European regions can boost entrepreneurial culture and drive innovation.
Over 45 people representing 7 diverse European regions, joined the meeting to examine the findings of the report, delve into key findings aimed at refining support measures for spin-off companies, fostering their growth and success.
The methodology included a thematic survey with 277 participants from various institutions, revealing valuable comparative summaries by region:
- Lithuania: Clear strategy and aligned efforts to promote entrepreneurship
- Aragón, Spain: Highlighted barriers include lack of incentives and complex legislation
- Western Region, Ireland: Strategic focus on life-sciences and MedTech
- Tampere, Finland: Emphasis on improving academia-industry connections
- Veneto Region, Italy: Positive outlook on multidisciplinary team creation
- West Region, Romania: Lack of formal valorisation procedures
- Greater East Region, France: Strong support for venture building, with a distinct approach to technology-transfer and valorisation through the SATT system
These insights are crucial for enhancing regional policies and fostering spin-off innovation across Europe.
