3rd Regional Stakeholder meeting by BI RDA & UEFISCDI
On August 7, the third Regional Stakeholders Meeting of the WeSTEMEU - Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics project took place in Romania. The event was co-organized by the Bucharest-Ilfov Regional Development Agency (BI RDA) and the Executive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development, and Innovation (UEFISCDI). The meeting convened 17 representatives from central and local government institutions, academia, research organizations, civil society, and the private sector, all committed to advancing the role of women in STEM fields.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress of current initiatives and discuss future actions aimed at promoting STEM education and increasing the participation of women in STEM careers. Key presentations focused on:
- The importance of investments in digitalization to advance the STEM objectives outlined in the "Educated Romania" strategy.
- The significance of psychological counseling and career guidance in supporting women’s education and career development in STEM.
- The main challenges faced by women in academic careers and potential strategies to address them.
The event facilitated a productive exchange of ideas, with attendees contributing their insights and experiences to further the project's mission. Organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants for their active engagement and valuable input.
