GEMX and LEO Donegal AMBITION Open Study Visit in Ireland
Representatives from GEMX and LEO Donegal AMBITION officially opened the Ireland Study Visit at Atlantic Technological University in Letterkenny last Wednesday, October 23, where attendees engaged in a comprehensive introduction to two pioneering programs focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. As part of the fourth WeSTEMEU project meeting, this gathering set the stage for an exploration of initiatives that promise broad applicability across regions, capturing the attention and interest of participants keen on impactful collaboration.
The event began in the university’s Lecture Theatre, with a representative from GEMX presenting their program. GEMX, an industry-driven collaborative network, unites leading companies and educational institutions in the northwest United Kingdom with the shared goal of advancing excellence in engineering and manufacturing. By fostering connections between academia and industry, GEMX seeks to drive technological innovation and strengthen professional expertise.
Next, a representative from LEO Donegal AMBITION introduced a program specifically aimed at empowering female entrepreneurs. Offering mentorship and workshops, AMBITION supports women across Donegal in developing globally scalable business ideas. Each year, the program selects up to twelve business concepts, focusing on technology and digital solutions, and guides participants from concept through to investor presentations. The alignment between GEMX and AMBITION in advancing innovation through collaboration and empowerment was met with enthusiastic interest from attendees, underscoring the value of these initiatives in creating new professional and regional opportunities.
