WeSTEMEU celebrates the 3rd local group meeting in Igualada
On Monday, July 1st, the 3rd Meeting of the Local Group of the WeSTEMEU project took place at La Teneria Museum, Igualada. This meeting created a space for reflection and collaboration to advance the goal of promoting STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with a special focus on the female audience, which is underrepresented in this field.
The main point of the meeting was to address the challenges identified during the previous meeting, which will guide the local group led by the Igualada City Council over the next three years of the WeSTEMEU project. The Igualada City Council presented various planned action lines in collaboration with different local group agents. The objective is to provide effective responses to the identified challenges.
The Councilor for Neighborhoods, Civics, Sports, and Vocational Training, Patricia Illa, welcomed the session and actively participated throughout the day. She also announced several projects prepared for the upcoming academic year, all aimed at promoting STEM pathways. This initiative pays special attention to the female audience, with the goal of reducing the gender gap in this sector.
All attendees participated in exercises to evaluate the feasibility of potential practices and policies to be developed, seeking the opinions of participants, including expert institutions in the field. Another highlight of the meeting was the follow-up of the project at the European level, especially after the recent meeting of all WeSTEMEU project agents in Patras, Greece. This space served to ensure coherence with similar initiatives from other participating countries and to share learnings acquired in recent meetings."
