WeSTEMEU Project shines at Lithuanian Dissemination Event
In a collaborative effort aimed at enhancing the visibility and impact of women in science, the Lithuanian Innovation Centre (LIC) and the Association LithuaniaBIO co-organised the annual event "Women in Biotech". Held last week, the event marked an important milestone in addressing the role of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, not just in Lithuania but also across Europe.
During the event, Dr. Ingrida Krogertė, project manager at LIC, presented the Regional Co-assessment Report, a critical document developed under the Interreg Baltic Sea Region WeSTEMEU initiative. The report, which is the product of collaboration among multiple European countries, including Romania, Greece, Ireland, Poland, and Spain, offers a comprehensive analysis of women's positions in STEM fields. More than just a report, it lays the foundation for future policy developments and strategic actions aimed at improving the representation of women in STEM disciplines.
The significance of this publication lies in its potential to drive substantial change in policy and practice across the region. The analysis not only identifies existing challenges but also paves the way for targeted strategies that can better support women in science. By fostering a collaborative approach, partners from the participating countries aim to create a unified document that will serve as a cornerstone for joint efforts to promote gender equity in STEM fields.
Although women scientists in Lithuania have gained increasing recognition, the collaborative efforts under the WeSTEMEU initiative are expected to bring about solutions that are more impactful. LIC and its partners are committed to further strengthening the role of women in STEM and to providing a platform for meaningful advancement in science and innovation.
The event has been hailed as a success, with stakeholders encouraged to follow the WeSTEMEU initiative and contribute to the continued progress of women in STEM across Europe.
