Project summary
Local and Regional administrations are key entities to promote more sustainable policies, due to their driving effect (closeness to entities and citizens), regulatory capacity, financing capacity and specialized services.
The overall project objective is to exchange good practices and work together to improve resources and competences towards the promotion of more sustainable productions and consumptions policies and strategies.
BIOPRO REGIONS will in particular contribute to European Green Deal and its “Fork to Farm Strategy”, that aims at reducing the climate footprint of Europe’s food system, including “SUSTAINABLE FOOD PRODUCTION”, “SUSTAINABLE FOOD CONSUMPTION” or “SUSTAINABLE FOOD PROCESSING & DISTRIBUTION”.
For such purpose, the partnership is formed by a group of public organisations with complementary experiences and competences, namely:
- 3 Local or provincial public authorities (CIM do AVE, an association of municipalities from northern Portugal, Dalarna County from Sweden, and the Municipality of Tetovo in North Macedonia)
- 3 Regional & Innovation Development Agency (ANEL from Cyprus, CTRIA from Hungary and the Regional Development Agency of Backa from Serbia)
- 1 Representative of the Primary sector (Agriculture Chamber of Dordogne in France)
- 1 organisation managing a protected area (ALMPA in Lithuania)
In the framework of the project, through a series of hybrid Workshops, Seminars, Study Visits and P2P supports, partners will exchange and transfer Good Practices, governance methodologies and initiatives in order to improve their local/regional policies to support a more sustainable agri-food value-chain.
From a mid-term perspective, the objective is to promote a local/regional economy based on innovation, circularity and resource efficiency, and to contribute to the development, maintenance and sustainable growth of producers of bio and proximity products.
