Project summary
The CHESS project aims to enhance local policy instruments for sustainable urban and peri-urban mobility. Starting with Regional Analyses in each territory, the project identifies strengths, weaknesses, and improvement methodologies for urban mobility plans and governance structures. Interregional Exchange Meetings will be held to foster contextual understanding, gather insights, and analyze local practices. Good Practices will be identified and assessed for greener solutions and better urban-suburban connectivity.
The project actions full covers 6 Regions (5 UE and 1 IPA).
The project foresees 7 Interregional Exchange Meetings and Peer Reviews (PRs) to optimize policy assessments and benchmarking. Stakeholder engagement at local and transnational levels will ensure diverse perspectives. They will be involved using co-creation sessions and a design-thinking approach conducted by professional moderators and experts.
Monitoring involves local stakeholders evaluating policy effectiveness, using indicators such as reductions in CO2 and other pollutants increased public transport usage, adoption of green transport solutions, improved urban-suburban connectivity, and successful policy adoption rates. Traffic congestion levels and economic impacts, will also be measured.
The project aligns with the EU Cohesion Policy by reducing regional disparities and promoting balanced territorial development. It supports the European Green Deal's climate neutrality goals by improving urban mobility policies and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, it contributes to the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Smart Mobility by enhancing multimodal transport and facilitating digital and green transitions.
Two IPA partners from Serbia, will participate fully, benefiting from the project's methodologies and actively engaging in policy improvement.
Dissemination efforts through the project website, videos, and partner channels will ensure transparency and visibility.
